Starting Pay: $38.00 – $42.00/hour
Status: Full-Time | Immediate Hire
Schedule: Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
The Lead Crane Mechanic provides hands-on leadership and technical support for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cranes and heavy intermodal terminal equipment. This position leads daily maintenance activities while ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and available to support terminal operations.
Essential Duties
- Lead and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on cranes and heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose and repair motors, gearboxes, brakes, bearings, drives, sensors, controls, and related components.
- Perform inspections and identify equipment requiring repair or replacement.
- Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, control systems, and electrical circuits.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities and provide technical guidance to mechanics.
- Mentor and train maintenance personnel on safe and effective repair practices.
- Maintain accurate work orders, inspection records, and maintenance documentation.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status with maintenance leadership and terminal operations.
- Follow all OSHA, company, and site safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience maintaining cranes, heavy industrial, or intermodal equipment.
- Experience with RTG/RMG, gantry, container, or similar cranes strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Previous Lead Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, or similar leadership experience preferred.
- Welding/fabrication and PLC/VFD experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.

- The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and work around heavy industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift and handle tools, parts, and equipment.
- Must be able to work outdoors in Houston weather conditions.
- Ability to work Monday-Friday 7:00am- 4pm, Saturdays on call.
