CANUSA EPC is looking for an experienced Lead Process Engineer to join our growing Houston engineering team.
We're looking for someone with a strong process engineering foundation who is ready to take ownership of projects, work directly with clients, and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.

What You'll Do
As a Lead Process Engineer, you'll lead and execute process engineering activities across EPC projects while working closely with clients, project managers, engineers, designers, vendors, and field personnel.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Lead process engineering activities from early design through detailed engineering and project execution.
- Develop and review Basis of Design documents, process studies, calculations, and technical reports.
- Develop and review PFDs, Heat & Material Balances (HMBs), and P&IDs.
- Develop and review process simulation models using BRE ProMax, AspenTech HYSYS, or similar software.
- Perform and review equipment, piping, valve, and PSV sizing calculations.
- Support relief system and relief header analyses.
- Develop and review process equipment specifications.
- Review vendor documentation for technical compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in PHA/HAZOP, technical, and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Work directly with client engineering and operations teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Civil/Structural, and Project Management teams.
- Conduct field surveys and site walkdowns.
- Support commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and operational improvement activities.
- Contribute to proposals, engineering estimates, and business development efforts.
- Help develop and improve CANUSA EPC's process engineering standards and practices.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 8+ years of relevant process engineering experience.
- Experience within oil & gas, natural gas processing, midstream, petrochemical, chemical, LNG, or a related process industry.
- Experience developing or reviewing PFDs, HMBs, P&IDs, process calculations, and equipment specifications.
- Experience using process simulation software such as ProMax, HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar platforms.
- Ability to independently evaluate and solve technical engineering problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Ability and interest in providing technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.
We'd Love to See
These qualifications are preferred, not deal breakers:
- Experience with cryogenic gas processing, refrigeration, amine treating, dehydration, compression, and/or gas treating systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward obtaining PE licensure.
- EPC or consulting engineering experience.
- Experience serving as a Lead or Senior Process Engineer.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Field experience supporting commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or facility optimization.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, DOT, and other applicable industry codes and standards.

Location & Work Arrangement
This is a full-time position based in our Houston, Texas office and is not a fully remote position.
We believe in-person collaboration is valuable, particularly when multidisciplinary engineering teams are working together to solve complex project challenges.
That said, CANUSA EPC offers hybrid flexibility as needed for appointments, personal obligations, and other circumstances. Our flexibility is designed to support our employees while maintaining an in-office, collaborative work environment.
Occasional travel to client offices and project sites throughout North America may be required.
