PROtect, LLC is looking for an experienced NDT Technician to perform non-destructive testing and inspection services at industrial facilities. This role is responsible for identifying defects in materials and components, operating specialized NDT equipment, completing accurate documentation, and maintaining a strong focus on safety.

The ideal candidate has experience with multiple NDT methods, takes pride in the quality of their work, and is comfortable working in demanding industrial environments. This is a hands-on position with opportunities to work across a variety of inspection methods, equipment, and job sites.

What You'll Do

NDT Inspection

  • Perform non-destructive testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Perform inspections using appropriate NDT methods, including:
    • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
    • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT)
    • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
    • Radiographic Testing (RT)
    • API inspections
  • Select, prepare, load, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment.
  • Identify defects and discontinuities using appropriate testing techniques.
  • Monitor equipment, gauges, and other indicators to ensure proper operation.
  • Determine the appropriate tools, equipment, and testing methods needed for each assignment.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Locate and follow applicable procedures and inspection requirements.
  • Complete inspection reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete Field FX tickets, Method Hour Logs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and other required documentation.
  • Properly name, organize, and archive reports and job documentation according to company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate job records and inspection data.

Safety & Team Leadership

  • Follow all company, customer, and applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture among crew members.
  • Provide instruction and direction to assigned assistants.
  • Maintain awareness of surrounding hazards and take appropriate action to protect yourself and others.
  • Work safely around moving equipment, electrical components, chemicals, confined spaces, heights, and other industrial hazards.

Equipment & Vehicle Responsibilities

  • Drive company vehicles while maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on company vehicles and equipment.
  • Keep equipment, vehicles, and shop areas clean, organized, and functional.
  • Report equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly.

What We're Looking For

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be insurable through PROtect, LLC's insurance carrier
  • Certification in at least one major NDT method, such as:
    • UT
    • RT
    • API
  • Certification in at least one minor NDT method, such as:
    • MT
    • PT
    • UTT

Knowledge & Skills

NDT Expertise: Strong knowledge and experience with multiple NDT methods and a willingness to continue developing technical skills.

Mechanical Knowledge: Intermediate mechanical knowledge and the ability to understand and work with industrial equipment.

Safety: Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures and the ability to consistently follow and reinforce them.

Critical Thinking: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify problems and evaluate potential solutions.

Active Listening: Ability to understand instructions, ask appropriate questions, and communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.

Teamwork & Leadership: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide instruction to others in a professional manner.

Active Learning: Willingness to learn new procedures, equipment, technologies, and inspection techniques.

Customer Service: Professional interaction with customers and a commitment to arriving on time and prepared for assignments.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a field-based position that requires flexibility and a strong work ethic.

The NDT Technician must be willing and able to:

  • Work extended shifts, including up to 16-hour days when required.
  • Respond to call-outs and short-notice assignments.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Travel long distances and remain on site for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors and in industrial environments in extreme heat and cold.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Work on rough, uneven, or loose terrain.
  • Work around moving mechanical equipment, electrical components, chemicals, and other industrial hazards.

Physical Requirements

The ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position is required. This includes the ability to:

  • Frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds over rough or uneven terrain.
  • Occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Push and pull equipment and materials.
  • Perform repetitive movements and manual tasks.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Maintain visual acuity sufficient to inspect materials and equipment.
  • See details at close range and clearly observe objects at distances of 20 feet or more.
