Join Oshkosh Aerotech as a Machine Repair Technician Lead supporting Train Systems at IAH Airport, where you will lead and support technicians responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the airport's Automated People Mover (APM) train system and related infrastructure. This hands-on leadership role coordinates daily maintenance activities, responds to escalated equipment faults and service interruptions, performs advanced troubleshooting and repairs, and provides technical guidance to Maintenance Repair Technicians. The Lead helps ensure maintenance work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently while supporting reliable 24/7 APM operations.Â

YOUR IMPACTÂ

Lead and support Maintenance Repair Technicians in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the Automated People Mover (APM) train system and related infrastructure.Â
Coordinate daily work assignments, preventive maintenance activities, corrective repairs, inspections, and response to equipment faults and service interruptions.Â
Respond to escalated APM train system faults, malfunctions, alarms, outages, and service interruptions and provide hands-on technical support to restore system operation.Â
Provide technical direction and assistance to Maintenance Repair Technicians during complex repairs, emergency maintenance, system testing, and recurring equipment failures.Â
Identify and assist with determining root causes of repeat failures and communicate equipment reliability concerns and recommended corrective actions to management.Â
Monitor assigned maintenance activities and verify repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks are completed according to OEM procedures and established maintenance standards.Â
Review and ensure accurate documentation of work performed, equipment status, inspections, parts used, faults, and repair activities in CMMS.Â
Support the training and development of Maintenance Repair Technicians by providing hands-on instruction, technical guidance, and reinforcement of proper maintenance and troubleshooting practices.Â
Assist with shift turnover by communicating open work orders, equipment status, outstanding repairs, operational concerns, and other information necessary to maintain continuity between shifts.Â
Follow and reinforce OEM procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, airport rules, company policies, PPE requirements, and all applicable safety and training requirements.Â
Support 24/7 airport operations, including nights, weekends, holidays, emergency response, and work in stations, tunnels, maintenance facilities, tight spaces, and elevated areas as needed.Â

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSÂ
High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, rail/transit maintenance, airport equipment maintenance, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Â
Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain and maintain necessary airport security clearances.Â
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.Â
Experience providing technical direction, training, mentoring, or work guidance to maintenance technicians or other skilled personnel.Â
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.Â
Experience coordinating and prioritizing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs based on safety and operational needs.Â
Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, PPE requirements, and safe maintenance practices, with the ability to reinforce established safety procedures within the team.Â
Ability to support 24/7 airport operations, including day or night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments as needed.Â

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSÂ
Technical degree, certificate, or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, electronics, automation, or a related field.Â
Previous airport, aviation, rail, transit, Automated People Mover, industrial maintenance, or field service experience.Â
Experience troubleshooting motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, mechanical drives, and electrical control systems.Â
Experience with train propulsion, braking, automatic door, station, guideway, or similar transportation systems.Â
Previous lead, senior technician, or technical mentoring experience in a maintenance environment.Â
Experience using CMMS software to manage work orders, document maintenance activities, and track equipment history.Â
Working proficiency with computers and common software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.Â

PHYSICAL DEMANDSÂ
While performing the duties of a Machine Repair Technician Lead, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of airport equipment and systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.Â
WORK ENVIRONMENTÂ
The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work in active airport operational areas around aircrafts, vehicles, and heavy equipment.Â
