JOB DESCRIPTION 
 JOB TITLE: Maintenance Manager

REPORTS TO (JOB TITLE): Director of Operations

DEPARTMENT: Various

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance of the company’s fleet to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This role manages maintenance personnel, vendor relationships, preventive maintenance programs, and ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standards).

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assumes full management responsibility for the entire maintenance department including maintenance and parts control, compliance, quality assurance and warranty administration of vehicles; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
  • Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, including inspections, maintenance records, and out-of-service criteria.
  • Develop and enforce preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates, through subordinate level staff, the department's work plan; assigns projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures; meets with key staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Directs, monitors and participates in the preparation of a variety of periodic and special reports such as KPI.
  • Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the department budget; approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; approves expenditures and implements budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary.

EXPERIENCE: 

7 - 10 years of job-related experience - required.

EDUCATION: 

Minimum Formal Education:

Four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS: 

Required.


  • Diesel Mechanic Certification (ASE)
  • Brake Inspector Certification (FMCSA Regulation 49 CFR)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
