Position Overview

The Wind Turbine Major Component Exchange Field Specialists, specialize in large corrective exchanges at the assigned Wind Turbine site through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety, and environment compliance. MCE Field Specialists audit tasks such as cleaning, organizing, disassembly and assembly of large components of wind turbines. As required, they assist & Direct work in, dismantling, erecting, aligning, adjusting, and/or maintaining machinery and equipment according to installation manuals, work instructions, layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings. They are required to identify, mitigate, and communicate issues, concerns, inconsistencies, and deviations from procedures, safety protocol, and quality to the Project Manager. They are required to climb vertically at least 300 feet to work at heights. Certified Wind Turbine Technicians must maintain all certifications required for the position. MCE technicians are assigned to multiple projects over a rotation period and is expected to travel to remote client sites.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include any portion of the electrical, mechanical or balance-of-plant equipment on site.
  • Act as a lead team member to support site work.
  • Will be required to supervise field work onsite focusing on Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.
  • Observe and improve daily safety and task planning discussions.
  • Interact with vendors and customers in a professional manner.
  • Will be required to audit Pre-task planning, JHA’s, and RA’s.
  • Perform repairs or replacements of mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical components to correct malfunctions.
  • Perform large component exchanges on Wind Turbine Generators (WTG).
  • Will be required to oversee lifting operations following skills verification of Large Components and ability to create, review, correct, and amend lifting plans.
  • On occasion Conduct maintenance of equipment (Cleaning, greasing, lubrication, etc.).
  • Lead and assist with other daily work activities, related to all areas of site operations, as directed by management, with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate with engineering support team when in need of additional troubleshooting/ diagnostic assistance.



Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Active GWO Basic Safety Training certificate preferred.
  • Direct Turbine Specific experience is required.
  • MCE experience required with additional knowledge in lifting operations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, assembly/disassembly, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Renewable energy experience desired.
  • Self-motivated with high level of integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have a team-driven attitude and professional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work on a diverse team.
  • Ability to use technology apps and devices.
  • Must have a valid ID.


    Physical Requirements

    - Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. of equipment and materials.
    - Able to stand and walk for 10 or more hours per day, often over uneven or rugged terrain.
    - Comfortable working at heights up to 250 feet above grade, including climbing ladders or scaffolding.
    - Proficient in basic tooling for equipment setup and safety.
    - First aid training.
    - Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening, as well as background check.
    - Manual dexterity for handling survey instruments and computer equipment.
    - Visual acuity and depth perception sufficient for detailed fieldwork and equipment operation.
    - Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow.
