Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Specialists. In this vital role, you will work closely with our physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure efficient patient flow, provide direct patient care, and support the overall operations of our clinic focusing on respiratory and sleep medicine. Your contributions will be essential in helping our patients receive the highest quality of care.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable experience.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs, patient history, symptoms, complaints, and current medications in the EMR.
  • Perform phlebotomy and administer injections as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare specimens for lab tests and assist patients with obtaining lab slips, referrals, and scheduling procedures.
  • Educate patients on health care concerns, conditions related to respiratory and sleep disorders, medications, and office procedures.
  • Maintain exam rooms by stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness, and adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring efficient clinic operations.
  • Handle incoming patient calls, triage non-clinical inquiries, and relay messages accurately to providers.
  • Collaborate effectively with all team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA) at all times.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a specialty setting (Respiratory, Pulmonology, or Sleep Medicine experience is a plus).

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
