The Meter Technician is a highly independent field professional responsible for residential and multifamily sub-meter reading, meter change-outs, and maintenance across assigned Texas markets.

This role requires strong self-direction, mechanical aptitude, inventory control, and the ability to operate efficiently without direct supervision. Technicians are trusted to manage daily routes, protect company assets, and represent the company professionally while working in diverse Texas environments and weather conditions.

As the company expands into Texas, technicians will play a foundational role in establishing operational reliability, installation quality, and customer confidence across new service territories.

What You’ll Do:

Meter Reading & Route Management

    • Execute daily meter reading routes independently across multifamily, residential, and commercial properties
    • Accurately collect consumption data using handheld devices and field management systems
    • Manage route completion timelines and communicate delays or site challenges proactively

Meter Installation & Mechanical Work

    • Perform like-for-like water submeter change-outs
    • Install, remove, and troubleshoot meters
    • Identify damaged or malfunctioning equipment
    • Maintain installation quality and system integrity 

Inventory & Asset Accountability

    • Maintain responsibility for assigned meters, fittings, tools, and materials
    • Track daily inventory usage accurately using appropriate systems
    • Safeguard company inventory and maintain a clean vehicle and shop space 

Safety & Professionalism

    • Follow all safety regulations and company standards, as well as property access rules and site-specific requirements
    • Work safely in residential environments and mechanical rooms
    • Represent MeterNet professionally with property managers and residents 

What You’ll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently with strong productivity
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools
  • Basic technology skills (handheld systems)
  • Strong organization and attention to detail 
  • Ability to travel outside of Houston Metro area

Preferred:

  • Submeter installation experience
  • Plumbing or field service background
  • Multifamily utility service experience
  • Inventory tracking or logistics experience

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive walking across large communities
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working outdoors in Texas heat and varying weather
