Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Texas buildings practice that provides Interior Design, Architecture, and Buildings Engineering services with a long history and deep commitment to the education sector. Our Houston, Texas office is seeking a Technical Interior Design professional to join our interdisciplinary team. 

The primary role of the Mid-Level Technical Interior Designer is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of a client as well as any architectural direction set forth into a cohesive interior design solution with moderate guidance and supervision. This role requires the production of drawings (2D/3D) and written material to support the technical direction of interior design. This individual may be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An individual at this level in their career is expected to perform their role within the standard of care acceptable to their peers in the industry. A Technical Interior Designer is expected to lead technical development and documentation of varying aspects of the interior design of a project, including but not limited to space planning, code review, interior architecture, interior details, specifications, coordination with all disciplines and construction phase services.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration.
  • Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives and ensure the incorporation of design intent.
  • Produce design and construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Leads the project delivery team to meet the client’s established schedule.
  • Advocate for design excellence and creativity within the practice of interior design, through the lens of sustainable practices.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams and coordinate work with consultants, vendors and other partners. 
  • Investigate processes and technology to improve efficiency.
  • Follow established standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Comply with professional ethical standards and codes.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
