This role will be based in our Houston Office, on an in-office basis. Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building.


Position Summary


The Public Finance Project Assistant will assist the attorneys and paralegals in the Litigation department in all stages of Litigation from pre-to-post trial duties.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists attorneys in preparing and organizing case files and documents.

  • Manages and maintains electronic and physical filing systems for case-related materials.

  • Coordinates and schedules meetings, hearings, and depositions.

  • Conducts research and gathers information relevant to ongoing litigation cases.

  • Prepares and edits legal documents, correspondence, and reports.

  • Tracks deadlines and ensures timely submission of court filings and other documents.

  • Supports the legal team in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and materials.

  • Maintains confidentiality and security of sensitive legal information.

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies

  • Candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a cross-functional, collaborative team.

  • High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation. Provide outstanding client service, meet high quality standards for services and meet or exceed client expectations.

  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner under minimal supervision while adhering to strict deadlines.

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • A minimum one year of project/legal assistant experience supporting the litigation department within a law firm.

Technology

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, as well as document management.

  • Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.

  • Understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible use in a professional environment.

  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, firm-approved AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms) to support daily workflow and/or improve work quality.
