The Project Procurement Manager provides negotiation, training, and high-risk/legal-related support for project procurement and administration activities for Kiewit Corp. In this role, you will interface with Procurement Agents, Project Managers, Legal Counsel, Director of Procurement, and Sponsors for escalated issues.  


You will act as a procurement subject matter expert on Prime and sub-level terms and conditions, operate as a procurement liaison to the legal department and maintain a high-level working knowledge of multiple projects in the United States.  If you would like to own a process and make a significant impact as we continue to grow Kiewit Supply Network, this is the opportunity for you!

Kiewit Supply Network specializes in providing comprehensive procurement services to clients across the construction and engineering industries in multiple markets, including transportation; water/wastewater; power; oil, gas and chemical; building; and mining.  Our key objectives are to offer clients a world-class service focused on ensuring equipment, materials and services are consistently estimated and procured at the right price. This position is based out of our Houston, TX offices. 

Responsibilities

  • Support procurement with identification of mandatory and recommended prime contract flow-down clauses for incorporation into vendor contract templates, and work with Procurement Managers to develop/review project-specific templates.     
  • Review project contract templates for adherence to project requirements.
  • Assist in the development of company-wide procurement templates. 
  • Provide as-needed training on negotiation, contracts, and terms and conditions.
  • Assist in negotiating high-risk contracts for various projects.
  • Provide negotiation support to project teams and operate as initial legal review.
  • Serve as a liaison between the procurement team and project attorney(s) to negotiate and resolve commercial issues and move contracts forward to execution.
  • Resolve escalated, complex, or disputed contract issues.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships and manage supplier-specific vendor template negotiations.
  • Support procurement staff meetings and provide legal communication to the team as needed.
  • Interface with business, legal, risk, tax, suppliers, and internal procurement departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management or equivalent degree or military/education experience combination.
  • 10+ years of experience in Engineering, Construction or equivalent work/field.
  • Knowledge of equipment and materials common in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Legal training or transactional/commercial management experience of 5+ years preferred .
  • 8+ years negotiation experience.
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, effective time management skills, and excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in risk evaluation, claims mitigation, and dispute resolution preferred.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Must be willing to travel periodically for periods of less than a week.
