About the Position:

The Aerospace Quality Engineer will support production operations by ensuring all aerospace components, assemblies, and processes meet internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements. This role will lead root-cause investigations, drive corrective actions, and collaborate with cross functional teams to maintain a culture of quality and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail oriented, and experienced with aerospace manufacturing environments. A candidate for this position will be encouraged to take on as much responsibility as practical and will be expected to play a role in the entire cradle-to-grave product development process, including requirements development, conceptualization, CAD design, drafting, supplier relationships, procurement and fabrication management, procedure development, contamination control, hands-on assembly and testing, and on-console mission operations support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, andmaintainquality assurance processes aligned with AS9100/AS9110 standards.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and production processes to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead nonconformance investigations using structured problem-solving methods (5Why, 8D, Ishikawa).
  • Define, track, and analyze quality metrics; recommend and implement performance improvements.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI)in accordance withAS9145 and PPAP requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits (customer, regulatory, certification bodies).
  • Develop inspection plans, quality control procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) processes and provide disposition recommendations.
  • Train production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and continuous improvement practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Aerospace, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of quality engineering experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with FAI, nonconformance management, and corrective action methodologies.
  • Proficiencyin reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong analytical, communication, andproblem-solvingskills.
  • Ability to workcross functionallyand manage multiple priorities in afast pacedenvironment.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • ASQ CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, and SPC.
  • Familiarity with supply chain quality processes and supplier audits.
  • ERP/MESexperience (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Experience in ahighmix,lowvolumeaerospace environment.
