KBR is seeking Quality Engineers to support NASA programs.  We are looking for bothĀ full timeĀ &Ā part time.  These Quality Engineers will support the development and implementation of mission assurance requirements over the entire project life cycle.   These Quality Engineers will also focus on supplier surveillance and inspections. This position will monitor processes for complianceĀ toĀ the developer’s procedures and contractual requirements.Ā 

Processes to be reviewed prior to use and monitored when used may include:Ā 

  • Printed Circuit Board quality assessmentĀ 

  • Workmanship including coatingsĀ 

  • SolderingĀ 

  • ESD controlsĀ 

  • Clean room activities and controlsĀ 

  • Cable and harness fabricationĀ 

  • Contamination controlĀ 

  • Parts and materials controlĀ 

  • Control of drawings and proceduresĀ 

  • Equipment moves (e.g. slings, cranes, and hydro sets)Ā 

  • Hazardous operationsĀ 

  • Contractor responses to corrective action requestsĀ 

  • Build recordsĀ 

  • Delivery, storage and transport of flight and non-flight hardware, and critical ground support equipment (GSE)Ā 

Responsibilities:Ā 

  • Ensure that flight hardware anomalies, corrective actions, and re-verifications are documented in accordance with the contractors’ non-conformance and corrective action systemĀ 

  • Participate in production planning, review manufacturing flow plans and participate in Manufacturing and Test Readiness Reviews (MRRs and TRRs)Ā 

  • Examine process design and/or process qualification records, procedure review, work order review, andĀ verifyingĀ that labs carry required certificationsĀ 

  • Review flight hardware records and ensure all open items are identified and addressed prior to the performance of testsĀ 

  • Monitor contractor quality and safety controls, and participate in quality assurance activities during fabrication, integration, and testsĀ 

  • QAR monitoringĀ 

  • Support activities related to root cause corrective actionsĀ 

  • Support processes for collecting and analyzing data that measures supplier successĀ 

  • Review the supplier’s CDRL documents related to quality assurance and provide recommendationsĀ 

  • Review flight hardware records for completeness prior to integration & final acceptance testingĀ 

  • Perform a final instrument ā€œbuy-offā€ reviewĀ 

  • Complete thorough inspectionsĀ Ā 

Education, Experience, & Skills:Ā 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EngineeringĀ or related field or equivalent experience.Ā 

  • 10 +Ā yearsĀ Quality Engineering experienceĀ 

  • Previous NASA or aerospace industry experienceĀ 

  • GMIPS for Electronic BoardsĀ 

  • Pre-cap inspection of hybrid microcircuitsĀ 

  • 100% of solder joints prior to conformal coating of each flight printed wiring assembly prior to conformal coating.Ā 

  • 100% of conformal coatings on flight printed wiring assemblies.Ā 

  • Final workmanship inspection prior to box level final closure prior to integration into the next level of assembly.Ā 

  • Connector mates to mission hardware integrated into the spacecraft.Ā 

  • General workmanship quality prior to final acceptance testingĀ 

  • General workmanship prior to shipmentĀ 

  • Confirm shipping packaging conforms to requirements and is adequateĀ 

Preferred Training:Ā 

  • IPC J-STD-001xS (Soldering, Space Addendum)Ā 

  • NASA-STD-8739.1 (Staking and Conformal Coating)Ā 

  • NASA-STD-8739.4 or IPC/WHMA-A-620xS (Crimping, Cables & Wiring)Ā 

  • Developer-specific ESD Control training or training traceable to ANSI/ESD S20.20 (Electrostatic Discharge)Ā 

  • NASA-STD-8739.6 (Workmanship Implementation Standard)1Ā 

  • Pre-cap inspection methods derived from MIL-STD-883Ā 

Experience with harness work on NASA projects and be able to pass NASA Workmanship classes and prove expertise executing NASA Workmanship requirements.Ā
