Overview

Stewart & Stevenson is Now Hiring a Rail King Electrical Engineer II at 10750 Telge Road Houston, TX 77095. 

 

Responsible for development, design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of new and/or improved designs consisting of automotive vehicle products including low voltage circuitry, PLC interface, programming, and other duties within production assembly and field installation environments. 

Responsibilities

  • Works independently with direction in researching, designing, installing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining automotive vehicle products, by applying knowledge of engineering principles under the direction of other engineers.
  • Works independently with direction in conferring with vendors, staff, and management regarding product specifications and manufacturing capabilities to achieve desired design.
  • Works independently with direction from more senior members of the department when working on tasks and projects.
  • Understands, follows, and provides input concerning necessary regulatory requirements.
  • Understands, follows, and provides input concerning project schedules, procedures.
  • Works independently with direction in resolving issues and providing technical information.
  • Works independently with direction in the review of installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Works independently with direction in conducting research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
  • Works independently with direction in researching electrical/electronic components & systems for use in production, and/or replacing obsolete parts.
  • Works independently with direction in developing the electrical design of products using drafting tools or Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) and/or other software.
  • Works independently with direction in creating technical instructions for field modifications or testing requests.
  • Works independently with direction to work with the production line assemblers and test line to assure issue free assemblies.
  • Works as a team member independently with direction on ad hoc projects.
  • Works independently with direction in researching, designing, installing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining electrical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements by applying knowledge of engineering principles under the direction of other engineers.
  • Works independently with direction in interacting with vendors and internal customers to collaborate on projects and tasks.
  • Works independently with direction in applying electrical code requirements, manufacturability of product, and electrical design experience.
  • Works independently with direction concerning product design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Works independently with direction in subjects related to the SAE applying knowledge of communication protocol, creating/updating programming code, and implementing harness designs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must meet project deadlines and maintain several concurrent tasks / projects working independently with direction from more senior department members.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Makes decisions in a timely manner independently with guidance.
  • Must work safely and follow all company processes, core values, and procedures.
  • Interacts and communicates with customers as needed in a professional manner.

  • Able to take direction from senior members within the department and be able to follow tasks with supervision.
  • Must have familiarization with and working knowledge of drafting tools or CAD and applicable software.
  • Can work independently with direction in applying electrical equations to circuit analysis (ex. voltage drop calcs).
  • Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must learn and become proficient in the most recent required department and company procedures, software, and systems.
  • Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be familiar and comfortable with reading, understanding, and drawing electrical schematics that meet department standards.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with ease to a large cross-functional audience.
  • Expected to travel up to 10% to customer and/or supplier sites.
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certifications and/or safety training.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Must possess a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Works independently with direction in code / regulation subjects related to the NEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.

 

Competency: 

  • ABET accredited Master of Science Degree (MS) or, a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSEE/EET) with 2-5 years relevant electrical experience in an engineering environment.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers.
