Position Summary

In support of Texas Bay Credit Union’s (TBCU) mission to help our members achieve their financial goals and guided by our vision to stand out as a leading financial institution, the Recovery Operations Specialist is responsible for managing the full liquidation process for repossessed collateral, maximizing recovery proceeds, ensuring regulatory compliance, and minimizing losses to the credit union.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transportation of repossessed and voluntarily surrendered collateral to auction facilities.
  • Maintain account records, repossession statuses, recovery documentation, and title tracking in core systems.
  • Process voluntary surrenders, ensure required notices are sent, and support account transitions through the recovery process.
  • Obtain vehicle titles, keys, and other required documentation to facilitate liquidation activities.
  • Manage repossessed collateral inventory and monitor auction schedules to ensure timely disposition.Ā 
  • Review condition reports, vehicle valuations, and repair recommendations; approve expenses within established authority limits.Ā 
  • Establish sale readiness dates, set floor prices and reserve amounts, and review auction bids to maximize recovery proceeds.Ā 
  • Reconcile auction settlements and verify receipt of sale proceeds.
  • Resolve title issues, including title defects, mileage discrepancies, and total loss designations.
  • Maintain complete repossession and recovery files, prepare deficiency notices, and ensure proper document retention.
  • File, manage, and monitor insurance claims, pursuing reimbursement opportunities and posting claim settlements.
  • Review repossession-related invoices, expenses, and accounting transactions for accuracy and proper approval.Ā 
  • Maintain inventory, recovery, and claim reporting, including month-end reconciliations.Ā 
  • Serve as the primary contact for auction partners, transportation providers, repossession agents, and insurance carriers, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and service expectations.

• Serve as a backup for various functions within the department.

• Fulfill any other duties as required or assigned.

• Contribute to the smooth and efficient functioning of credit union teams.

• Propose changes to policies and procedures to address potential problems.Ā 

• As an employee of a ā€œEssential Businessā€ (as defined by Texas’s Executive Order GA 14),Ā 

Ā employees are expected to continue to report to work as scheduled during state issuedĀ 

Ā emergency declarations.

• Follow all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines in the performance ofĀ 

Ā assigned duties and responsibilities.

Required KnowledgeĀ 

Ā 

• A high school education or GED

• Three to five years of similar or related experience.

• Completion of required TBCU training courses.Ā 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including MS Word and Excel.

• Regularly required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, kneel, talk, hear, and use stairs.
