Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery.Every day, you will leverage your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans.   • Provides comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum nursing care, performing comprehensive maternal-fetal assessments, developing individualized care plans, and managing both low- and high-risk obstetric patients.
  • Monitors maternal and fetal well-being through external and internal fetal monitoring (FSE/IUPC), interpreted fetal heart tracings, performed cervical assessments, and initiated timely interventions during labor and obstetric emergencies.
  • Administers medications, IV therapies, epidural care, blood specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and other specialized clinical procedures while maintaining strict adherence to patient safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, provide SBAR handoffs, supervise and delegate nursing personnel, educate patients and families, advocate for patient-centered care, and ensure accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Responds effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies, including fetal distress, hypertensive disorders, hemorrhage, preterm labor, and newborn stabilization, while promoting quality improvement, patient safety, and professional nursing standards.

 

This position is represented by SEIU, Local 121RN, and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Job Requirements

Minimum:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years current Labor & Delivery experience
  • Current CA RN license, BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications
  • Circulating for cesarean delivery experience required.
  • Certification in fetal monitoring is required within one (1) year of employment
  • Evidence of lactation support education required within one (1) year of employment required.

Preferred:

  • Spanish speaking experience 
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing 
  • Obstetrics specialty certification
