Freese and Nichols is seeking a Senior Construction Manager – Professional Engineer in Houston or Pearland, Texas to lead construction management for large-diameter pipeline projects in the Houston area. As Senior Construction Manager, you will provide technical and project leadership from preconstruction through closeout, guide project teams and build strong relationships with owners, contractors and design teams. You will also regularly drive to construction sites throughout the Houston area.Â
What You’ll DoÂ
- Lead construction management for large, complex pipeline projects, serving as project manager or technical lead and coordinating internal teams, consultants and contractorsÂ
- Oversee construction observation and inspection activities, including material sampling and testing, quantity measurements and resolution of nonconforming workÂ
- Review contractor work for compliance with contract documents and coordinate interpretations, requests for information, submittals and construction issues with design teamsÂ
- Manage change and field orders, construction schedules, claims, pay requests, construction meetings and project closeout activitiesÂ
- Facilitate pre-bid, preconstruction and construction meetings and maintain clear communication among owners, contractors and project teamsÂ
- Advise clients on construction needs, project risks and delivery decisions while maintaining a long-term relationship focusÂ
- Lead and develop staff through work planning, coaching, performance feedback and day-to-day directionÂ
- Support business development, teaming relationships and risk management efforts for construction projectsÂ
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experienceÂ
- 15+ years of relevant construction experience serving as a construction manager or superintendentÂ
- Proficiency with project management information systems and the ability to mentor others in their useÂ
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of alternative project delivery methodsÂ
PreferredÂ
- Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) certificationÂ
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certificationÂ
- Experience leading construction management for large-diameter pipeline projectsÂ
- Experience working with owners, contractors, subcontractors and multidisciplinary design teamsÂ
