Intuitive Machines is searching for a skilled & dynamic Senior IT Security Engineer to join our incredibly exciting, growing company. This role will report to the Senior Director of IT & Cyber Security.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, standards, and technical controls for satellite and associated ground systems networks.
  • Oversee compliance initiatives related to NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, and other applicable federal requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, security architecture reviews, and system hardening activities across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to modern cyber threats, including advanced persistent threats, cloud-based attack vectors, and supply-chain vulnerabilities relevant to commercial space hardware.
  • Support and secure systems and encryption methods associated with satellite operations, ground networks, and mission-critical communications.
  • Direct incident response activities, including detection, investigation, containment, and remediation of security events while working with SOC teams.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, mission operations, and leadership to integrate security requirements into projects and processes, often performing a Project Manager role.
  • Maintain documentation related to security posture, compliance readiness, and audit activities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in cybersecurity, networking, information assurance, or related fields.
  • U.S. Citizenship (required for compliance and clearance eligibility).
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • NIST SP 800-171 control implementation and assessment
    • CMMC requirements and readiness preparation
    • Incident response and threat analysis
    • Cloud security technologies (AWS Gov) and zero-trust principles
    • Security considerations for satellite and aerospace-related environments
  • Demonstrated ability to secure complex, high-value, and regulated technical environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD, NASA, or other federal programs.
  • Active security clearance (Secret or higher) or eligible for TS / TS-SCI.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent.
  • May require occasional travel to support audits, operational activities, or mission needs.
  • Position may involve support outside normal business hours during critical security events or project deployments.
