General Information/Job Summary

Provide mechanical engineering support to assigned projects to ensure the development of effective designs, drawings, and documentation to achieve client/owner requirements as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and project execution team.

Responsibilities/Competencies

  • Report directly to Mechanical Engineering Supervisor for work process and job assignments.
  • Works with a team of disciplined engineers to support the creation of deliverables.
  • May be required to work on more than one project at a time.
  • Job is part of a multi-discipline team.
  • May supervise the activities of junior Engineers, designers, and draftsmen to ensure accuracy and completeness of documents and drawings produced.
  • Ensure drawings and engineering documents are accurate and complete.
  • Produce detailed designs for a particular segment ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
  • Develop engineering documents, drawing and writing specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedures and practical application of skills
  • Lead, supervise and guide discipline-specific teams in the preparation and coordination of design basic or detail drawings ensuring deadlines are met and that work is completed to the required quality standards.
  • Deliverables are accurately presented within the timeframe and workforce budget.
  • Bring solutions to complex problems.
  • Review and resolve interdisciplinary design and technical issues to ensure the most effective and efficient design is adopted.

Required Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of applicable industry experience in the specification of compressors, pumps, exchangers, flares, tanks, relief valves, piping systems, etc. for energy or petrochemical facilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Texas Professional Engineering license with capability for multistate licensure
  • Experience with application of pertinent industry codes.
  • Experience with Hexagon Caesar II software preferred.
  • Proven success in developing and executing projects, including objectives, scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Tenacious, results oriented approach to work, with high quality work standards.
  • Impeccable personal and professional ethics.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit 1/3 to 2/3’s of the scheduled work shift.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, walk upstairs, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, work with hands and fingers, and carry between 5 and 15 pounds periodically through the work shift.
  • Ability to compare, analyze, communicate, copy, coordinate, compute, evaluate and compile materials during the work shift.
  • Office environment – indoor with low to moderate levels of noise
  • May be required to observe construction progress outdoors by walking or driving to or on the site over rough or uneven terrain which may be dusty, muddy, wet, and noisy.
  • Minimal Travel Required
