Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a design authority for an engineering discipline. Each day, you will complete assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.

This role is contributing to the Automation, Energy Industries Division in Houston, TX

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Working with the customer to shape and deliver solutions while seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.
  • Creating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects and ensuring quality, timely implementation within the targeted cost.
  • Coordinating with relevant functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged, tested, installed, and commissioned.
  • Coaching engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices, and lessons learned from past projects.

Qualifications for the role
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or other engineering degree.
  • 8 or more year's experience preferred, working as an engineer with Distributed Control Systems and 3 or more years of experience with Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety standards and processes
  • A collaborative approach to working, demonstrating strong communication and leadership skills
  • A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and a desire to learn about new technologies
  • Candidates must already haveĀ workĀ authorization that wouldĀ permitĀ them to work for ABB in the US
