We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax CPA / Tax Manager to join a respected and established CPA firm in Houston, Texas. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for a seasoned public accounting professional who thrives in a client-focused environment and is looking for future leadership and signing authority responsibilities within a growing firm.

This role is centered on tax compliance, planning, research, and advisory services for both individual and business clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, delivering strategic tax guidance, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients across multiple industries.

You will work closely with firm leadership while managing client relationships, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of technical accuracy and professional service. This is a hybrid position offering a balanced schedule of three in-office days and two remote workdays per week.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing complex federal tax returns including 1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065, and 709 filings; conducting advanced tax research; providing tax planning recommendations; advising clients on financial and tax matters; mentoring team members; and eventually assuming signing responsibilities for tax returns on behalf of the firm.

  • Active CPA license required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 10+ years of recent public accounting tax experience
  • Strong expertise preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns
  • Advanced tax research and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax compliance and planning strategies
  • Experience using multiple tax and accounting software platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership mentality with strong ethics, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior accounting staff preferred
