Summary:

The Staff Engineer reports to the Director of Pipeline Integrity. This position involves diverse involvement in various aspects of the company鈥檚 business related to pipeline integrity, defect evaluations, and operations. This position requires periodic travel to field locations, training, and company meetings.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Support Integrity Engineers (IE) in all aspects of crack management. Areas of support include fracture mechanics models, material property evaluation, growth analysis, and fatigue analysis.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Support the Company鈥檚 Integrity Management Plan (IMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in risk assessment, data integration, anomaly evaluation, remediation programs, integrity program evaluation, and identification of preventive and mitigative measures.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Stay current in the advancements in pipeline fracture mechanics, ILI crack technologies, and in-the-ditch crack investigations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Support the IEs when interacting with appropriate subject matter experts and other stakeholders, such as third-party resources and vendors, to analyze pressure cycling, perform materials testing, and communicate requirements for in-field evaluation.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provides technical support to the Integrity Repair group, Specialists, Project Managers, and Operations with pipeline assessments, evaluation, and repair methods.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assists in the management of Company pipeline SOPs covering defect evaluations, pipe repairs, pressure reductions, outside force evaluation, and surveillance.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assists in inspections by PHMSA and other regulatory bodies by acting as an SME on pipeline inspections, data, records, and program execution.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assists in developing improvements to the company鈥檚 Integrity Management Plan, including the written plan, procedures, best practices, and processes.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collect and provide Pipeline Integrity related data for performance metrics, required annual reporting, and help monitor key performance indicators for assigned assets.



Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Graduate engineer with BS in Engineering discipline.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 10 years of related experience

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience in pipeline operations, pipeline design, pipeline repair, and pipeline integrity issues such as corrosion control, pipeline assessment and fitness for service evaluation, risk management, DOT Code requirements, and compliance.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The position requires a candidate with excellent oral and written communication skills.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A highly developed ability with PCs and office computer software is required.聽

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must be a self-starter and self-motivator ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum engineering degree preferred.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior experience utilizing various fracture mechanic models.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior experience with ILI crack technologies.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in an engineering discipline and 6 - 8 years of relevant job related experience.
  • The Senior Engineer II level requires a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in an engineering discipline and 8+ years of relevant job related experience.
  • The Staff Engineer level聽requires Bachelor鈥檚 degree in an engineering discipline and 12+ years of relevant job related experience.
  • The Principal聽 Engineer level聽requires Bachelor鈥檚 degree in an engineering discipline and 20+ years of relevant job related experience with a strong preference for a PE license.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here represent those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Normal office working conditions with approximately 20%25 of the time in the field.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%25 of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Overnight travel will be required.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The position is based in industrial settings, including hazardous materials and chemicals, extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and requires appropriate personal protective equipment.
