Audubon is currently seeking a Survey Project Manager to join our team in our Houston, TX Office.  The Houston, TX will The Survey Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering land surveying services for oil and gas pipeline projects. This position manages projects from initial planning and field mobilization through mapping, deliverable preparation, and final closeout.

The ideal candidate will have oil and gas pipeline experience and a working knowledge of survey field operations, mapping, or both. This individual must be able to coordinate field crews and office personnel, communicate effectively with clients, manage project budgets and schedules, and ensure that all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with client requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage pipeline survey projects from kickoff through final delivery.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and execution strategies.
  • Coordinate survey field crews, mapping personnel, subcontractors, and other project resources.
  • Review pipeline routes, alignments, rights-of-way, workspaces, access roads, facility sites, and other project requirements.
  • Monitor field production, mapping progress, project costs, schedules, and deliverable status.
  • Provide clear direction and priorities to field and office personnel.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding progress, schedule, budget, risks, and project needs.
  • Review survey data, mapping, plats, exhibits, alignment sheets, legal descriptions, and as-built deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and resolve field, access, property, permitting, utility, environmental, and constructability issues.
  • Coordinate with engineering, right-of-way, environmental, construction, and client representatives.
  • Ensure project work complies with company procedures, client standards, applicable surveying requirements, and safety expectations.
  • Manage project changes, additional-service requests, and scope adjustments.
  • Support proposal preparation, fee development, project planning, and client presentations.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including correspondence, schedules, cost reports, field records, and deliverable tracking.
  • Promote accountability, communication, teamwork, and safe work practices across the project team.
  • Participate in project closeout, lessons learned, and continuous-improvement efforts.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant surveying, mapping, or project management experience.
  • Experience supporting oil and gas pipeline projects.
  • Working knowledge of survey field operations, mapping processes, or both.
  • Understanding of pipeline rights-of-way, route surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
  • Ability to read and interpret survey plats, alignment sheets, construction drawings, easements, deeds, and engineering documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and project teams.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, production, and client expectations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project-tracking tools.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Professional Land Surveyor license or the ability to support work under the responsible charge of a licensed surveyor.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, GIS platforms, or similar mapping software.
  • Familiarity with GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, and survey-processing workflows.
  • Experience with pipeline routing, HDD locations, compressor or meter stations, facilities, and construction support.
  • Familiarity with land records, right-of-way acquisition, utility coordination, and permitting requirements.
  • Project Management Professional certification or similar project-management training.
