Job Summary:
The Team Lead, Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on leader responsible for driving project delivery while developing a high-performing, accountable, and innovative team. This role oversees the full lifecycle of mechanical products and solutions—from concept through development, enhancement, testing, and support—ensuring they meet performance, reliability, cost, and compliance standards.Â
In this role you will foster a culture of innovation and accountability, mentor and evaluate team members and champion continuous improvement. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to define technical needs, troubleshoot design challenges, and ensure quality through structured testing and risk management.Â
Key Accountabilities:
Team Leadership Â
- Exercise leadership and provide professional development and support to the electrical teamÂ
- Ensure the team structure and performance will deliver the short and long-term objectives of the organization.Â
Product Development and Technical InnovationÂ
- Work with internal and external key stakeholders to define specifications and scope of requirements for related projects and solutionsÂ
- Identify opportunities for improvement/enhancement to current product designÂ
- Lead/participate with failure/RCA investigationsÂ
- Design and deliver timely, cost-effective solutions with a focus on functionality and reliability supported by comprehensive testing and validation practicesÂ
- Specify, procure, and evaluate new components or technology to be applied or integrated into existing products and solutionsÂ
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and present field and bench testing dataÂ
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Technical/Customer SupportÂ
- Provide technical support to both internal and external customers (eg training and troubleshooting)Â
- Support the sales and life cycle of BlueSpark® product and solution offerings in collaboration with all levels and departments to capture user needs, identify challenges, and implement improvements Â
Documentation, Compliance & Industry EngagementÂ
- Create, review, revise and maintain all required documentation, specifications, and schematics to ensure accuracy and compliance with the product data management (PDM) and quality management systems (QMS)Â
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge by monitoring relevant and emerging technologies and trends and through participation in key industry events/conferences/committeesÂ
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Master or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, registered or eligible for registration as a P.EngÂ
- Minimum of 10 years’ related experience with the design and development of mechanical products and systems.Â
- Proven experience leading or mentoring mechanical engineering teams in a project or functional environmentÂ
- Proven expertise in the design, testing, and procurement of complex fit for purpose mechanical designsÂ
- High level of proficiency with Solid Works family of products and strength in PDM system set up and management. Â Â
- Experience with downhole oilfield tools is an asset.Â
- Strong experience with engineering simulation tools (e.g., FEA)Â
- Working knowledge of relevant Federal and Industry Regulations, Codes and Standards (IEEE, ANSI, CSA, NEC, etc.)Â
- Intermediate+ proficiency with technical and collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, SharePoint)Â
