The Trading Lead, Gasoline - Americas (Director) is responsiblefor leading thegasoline trading desk in Houston within the Phillips 66 Commercial organization. Building upon existing physical assets and flows, this role will focus on generating income through physical and financial trading and origination activities. As a member of the Clean Products trading leadership team, this role also helps drive the global gasoline trading strategy and general interest valuation creation. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the Houston gasoline team to realize annual profit objectives. 
  • Develop, set, and own the long-term strategic direction of the gasoline trading activity in the Americas
  • Direct and own the portfolio of all physical and financial gasoline trading in the Americas based on market fundamentals, pricing, arbitrage and supply/demand balances.
  • Provide guidance and challenge to traders on trading tactics, positioning, optimization efforts and business growth.
  • Drive collaboration across the global gasoline trading team.
  • Ensure trading decisions are based on general interest economics and aligned with the company’s key priorities.
  • Collaborate with Trading Leads in other commodities and offices to ensure alignment and sharing of market intelligence across regions.
  • Lead the gasoline trading team with intellectual curiosity and thorough awareness of risk exposure and of market dynamics.
  • Ensure the gasoline trading team complies with all governance and internal controls related to risk management, compliance, credit risk, and corporate policies.
  • Lead talent management activities for the team (staffing, performance, promotions, external recruiting).  Build organizational capabilities & mentor talent. 
  • Maintain strong internal relationships within the Commercial and CFR organizations to ensure appropriate levels of support and resolution of any issues.
  • Build strong relationships with VCO, Refining and Marketing to drive business optimization and growth.
  • Cultivate and manage key external relationships at a senior level in order to expand Phillips 66 market presence and increase trading potential.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 10 or more years of energy supply and trading experience
  • Deep understanding of latest commercial / global market developments

Compensation Range

This position has a base salary range of $244,800 – $299,200. This role is eligible to participate in the company’s commercial bonus program, offering the opportunity to earn additional compensation based on business and individual performance, in accordance with program guidelines.

The Commercial organization  works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration.   Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations.  Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
