We’re seeking experienced Upstream Drilling and Completions (D&C) and intervention (workover/P&A) QA/QC Technicians to join Kerndell and support our clients’ third-party inspection (TPI) needs at supplier locations throughout the greater Houston area.

This is a field-based role. The QA/QC Technician will routinely travel to supplier sites to perform TPI services, generate required reports, and verify that the inspection, assembly, testing, and loadout of D&C and intervention equipment comply with applicable specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor the inspection, assembly, testing, and loadout of D&C and intervention equipment for onshore and offshore exploration, development, and intervention wells to:

  • Reduce and mitigate costly rig nonproductive time (NPT).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and best practices (e.g. DS-1, API, DNV).
  • Verify conformance with equipment supplier procedures and customer- or project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
  • Support continuous improvement by tracking and evaluating supplier discrepancies and nonconformances (NCRs), and reviewing proposed corrective actions.
  • Conduct site audits in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, API Q1, and API Q2.
  • Formally document inspection activities and results to maintain traceability.
  • Proactively promote and reinforce a strong safety culture at all times.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in:
    • Nondestructive examination and testing (NDE/NDT) methods such as magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), and ultrasonic testing (UT).
    • Relevant industry standards, including DS-1 Volumes 3–5, ISO 9001:2015, API standards (Q1/Q2), DNV 2.7-1, and ASNT practices.
    • Quality auditing specifications, processes, and techniques.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct, hands-on experience in shop-level operations involving the inspection, assembly, testing, and loadout of D&C and intervention equipment - preferably across multiple major equipment suppliers.
