This position is based in Houston and works closely with the company's outside sales team, service center, and vendors. The Warehouseman / Mechanic is responsible for both parts & equipment warehouse management, hands-on rotating equipment rebuild work and oversight of daily shop operations, team scheduling, and project flow. Preference given to candidates with experience on bearing housings, blowers, and other rotating equipment.

Responsibilities:
Shop Management & Oversight
  • Set-up and organize new warehouse and rotating equipment repair shop.
  • Manage, schedule, and maintain daily shop duties, including building a small team (as needed / when needed) and project flow
  • Work with the Operations Manager to maintain the service work in Salesforce and update job statuses in real time
  • Act as Safety Officer for Houston shop, confirming all safety trainings/certifications for shop reports are up to date and documented
  • Work with shop assistant and Baton Rouge office to maintain inbound/outbound freight, confirming items on arrival, filing claims as needed, and confirming outbound packaging quality meets standards
  • Understand and utilize various exchange items; evaluate price of exchange vs. cost of repair
Hands-On Technical Work
  • Safely operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair all components of equipment
  • Utilize manufacturer prints and disassembly/assembly manuals for equipment inspections and repairs
  • Remove and install components by following the appropriate service manual
  • Reassemble rotating equipment per factory standards and clearances
  • Use precise measuring tools for equipment rebuilds (micrometer, dial indicators, feeler gauges, etc.), holding clearances down to 0.0001"
  • Perform machine work, basic hand tool work, rigging, and forklift operation
  • Wire feed welding (preferred)
  • Formally document all work performed on equipment and job workflow
General
  • Complete work assignments and assigned training within allotted time
  • Maintain good work habits and comply with all safety/company regulations
  • Keep a safe, clean, and organized work area
  • Perform all other duties assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience with rotating equipment rebuilds preferred
  • Trade school training preferred
  • Track record of hands-on work experience in industrial-based businesses
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematic drawings, and engineering specifications
  • Must be able to interpret technical manuals to determine work procedures
  • Must provide own basic hand tools and measuring tools
  • Strong initiative (self-starter), able to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail throughout job completion
  • Skilled in problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to work autonomously; maintains organization across all projects
  • Able to work well within an organization involving industry professionals, sales teams, and other staff

Additional information:
  • Schedule is 9/80 (Monday - Thursday: 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Friday: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM with every other Friday off)
  • Full time: 40 hours/week
