Investment Banking Associate - Energy (Houston, TX)

Responsibilities

• Support transaction execution across M&A, equity, and debt advisory assignments from initial analysis through closing
• Develop and review financial models, including operating models, valuation analyses (DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions), and transaction-related analyses
• Prepare high-quality client materials, including pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, and board-level materials
• Perform company-specific, industry, and market research across energy subsectors such as upstream, midstream, power, renewables, and energy services
• Coordinate and manage transaction processes, including due diligence activities and interaction with clients, investors, legal counsel, accountants, and other advisors
• Review and oversee analysts’ work product, providing guidance, feedback, and quality control
• Assist senior bankers with business development efforts and ongoing client relationship management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or a related field; energy sector experience preferred
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant financial databases
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to teamwork

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in energy investment banking, energy-focused private equity, commercial or investment banking, or corporate development
• Familiarity with energy-specific financial and operating metrics
• Experience supporting M&A transactions
