The Investigations & Insights Manager provides both strategic oversight and operational leadership within the organization’s incident management framework. This role ensures effective deployment of investigation resources while leveraging data analytics to identify trends and deliver actionable insights. Acting as a focal point for senior leadership and frontline teams, the position aligns operational execution with strategic priorities, maintains readiness of investigation tools and documentation, and drives continuous improvement in incident prevention and organizational learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Coordinate deployment and workload management for investigation specialists, ensuring readiness of resources and tools.
  • Actively mobilize to lead or support investigations for significant (HIPO) incidents when required.
  • Serve as custodian of the COMET investigation system and SMS-hosted frameworks, ensuring optimal functionality and consistency.
  • Analyze incident and performance data to identify trends, emerging risks, and systemic improvement opportunities; deliver KPI insights to senior leadership.
  • Facilitate cross-functional reviews and ensure timely development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Undertake QA/QC of investigation outputs, providing coaching and feedback to frontline teams.
  • Liaise with Compliance, Legal, and operational teams to meet regulatory reporting requirements and support audits.
  • Represent the organization in industry forums and benchmarking initiatives, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience

  • Strong understanding of incident investigation principles, root cause analysis methodologies, and systemic risk identification.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Proven experience managing or administering investigation systems and maintaining compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple organizational levels and functions.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining standards, procedures, and performance metrics related to investigations and continuous improvement.

Preferred Experience

  • Professional certification in investigation methodologies, process safety, or related disciplines (e.g., TapRoot®, ICAM, Topset or equivalent).
  • Proven experience with COMET investigation management system.
  • Background in regulatory compliance, operational risk management, or legal interface within high-hazard industries.
  • Familiarity with global standards for incident management and organizational learning.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with occasional visits to operational sites as required.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones and collaborate with global teams.
  • Willingness to travel for audits, regulatory engagements, and industry benchmarking activities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
