The Role

We are seeking a Principal Consultant/Engineer to join our Global Professional Services organization, who has a passion for showing our customers a better way to operate around their business challenges. The position will provide consulting to clients and using their data to implement AspenTech Petroleum Supply Chain Planning & Scheduling software and deliver innovative high value solutions that will help our customers operate faster, greener, and safter.

Your Impact

  • Gathering customer requirements and translating those into high-level solution designs for Aspen Petroleum Supply Chain suite of products
  • Able to articulate the value our PSC suite solution offers for current customers
  • Ability to effectively be the technical lead in projects, leading and coaching Jr consultants
  • Deliver technical documents such as Functional Specifications, Detailed Design Documents, as well as Site Acceptance Test Documents
  • Building, updating, troubleshooting, running, and interpreting planning and scheduling models for plants
  • Be confident, capable, and ability to play a proactive role, a leading role on projects. Demonstrate collaboration with AspenTech Project Manager, involving technical to non-technical aspects of the project
  • Formulating business processes to support the systems based on industry best practices
  • Working with clients to implement the systems
  • Commissioning the completed systems, which may require on-site monitoring and analysis
  • Participation in commercial proposal development and testing of software upgrades
  • Provide training as needed to a customer or facilitate formal training classes

What You'll Need

  • BS, MS in Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or have graduate degree within the Supply Chain Management program
  • At least 7+ years of consultancy, professional service experience in implementing Supply Chain software in one of our focus industries
  • Linear and integer programming, modeling expertise is a plus.
  • Experience with the implementation of planning and scheduling heuristics.
  • Experience with Programming languages such as VBA, JavaScript, C++, C# or SQL Server is a bonus
  • Expected to have demonstrated ability to organize, plan, manage time, and learn on the job effectively and ability to think outside of the box. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in previous endeavors, and must have a can-do-positive attitude
  • Possess an inquisitive nature and a need to understand why and how things are done
  • Appreciate complexity and relish troubleshooting and solving problems for customers
  • Experience in consulting services such as gathering customer requirements and translating those into high-level solution designs using AspenTech’ s or other vendors SCM suite of products
  • The candidate should have a very strong career interest in supply chain and optimization work.
  • Fluent in English. Bi-lingual skills are a plus
  • Ability to travel (up to 25% travel on a calendar basis) as part of the role
  • Ability to work in diverse, fast paced environment and effectively collaborate across teams (Sales, Customer Support, Product Management, R&D)
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Proven track record in providing solid consulting services to customers
  • Ability to accurately estimate effort and resources required to meet project scope and delivery goals
