Facilities Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician who is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc.). This is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position, reporting to the Facilities Supervisor. 8 hr. shift Monday through Friday. Our Client YES, Prep Public Schools is a free, open-enrollment public school system that serves 15,000 students across twenty-six (26) schools in the Houston area. Shift:  Monday through Friday, 6 AM-12 PM. Additional hours may be required. 

Location: Near S. Loop E and Martin Luther King Blvd.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, repair and maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in the building 
• Applying and maintaining paint on school buildings, equipment, and grounds.
• Pressure washing and keeping grounds around the campus clean and debris free
• Communicate with facilities management about any work that requires outside expert assistance (contracted work)
• Receive and respond to reports of mechanical or maintenance issues on their premises 
• Work with tools and supplies necessary to complete tasks or projects 
• Proficient with instruments and tools required for job responsibilities 
• Executes and completes maintenance work order requests from the designated school

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent 
• 2 years of working experience in facilities maintenance  
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry 
• Ability to work with minimal supervision 
• Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented 
• Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task 
• Must have the ability to climb heights, lift up to 60 lbs. and climb onto ladders
