Position Summary:

ISS is seeking a Junior Engineering Assistant (during summer only when school is NOT in session, 10-15hrs/week) to support the Engineering team with documentation, data entry, and basic drafting for industrial projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to real engineering projects while developing foundational technical, organizational, and professional skills. Work will be clearly defined with measurable deliverables and direct supervision.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will receive task-level guidance from assigned engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data entry and document control support
- Bill of Materials (BOM) entry and formatting
- Compiling calculation sheets and project documentation
- Organizing project files and revision tracking
- Updating and organizing engineering drawings
- Basic CAD edits and markups under supervision
- Support engineers with updates to drawings, redlines, and basic CAD revisions under supervision
- Enter and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) data in spreadsheets or ERP systems
- Assist with organizing calculation packages and project documentation
- Maintain digital file structure, revision logs, and document control records
- Compile submittal packages and fabrication drawing sets for internal review
- Assist with data entry related to skids, enclosures, piping supports, and related assemblies
- Verify part numbers, descriptions, and drawing references for accuracy
- Prepare simple reports or summaries as directed by the engineering team
- Follow company drafting standards and document control procedures
- Complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule while communicating progress to the supervising engineer

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in high school (Junior or Senior preferred)
- Strong performance in math, physics, engineering, robotics, or technical electives preferred
- Interest in pursuing engineering, drafting, or a related technical field after graduation
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to read basic drawings or willingness to learn
- Strong math fundamentalsĀ
- Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) preferred but not required
- Participation in robotics, engineering clubs, shop class, or technical competitions
- Exposure to fabrication, mechanical systems, or industrial equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and accept coaching
- Reliable and punctual
- Organized and able to balance work with school responsibilities
- Clear written and verbal communication
