Laboratory Technician II, MassArray

Position Overview

This position involves the performance of molecular genetics assays, laboratory administrative tasks, and general laboratory maintenance within the Pharmacogenomics / MassArray pipeline.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Laboratory Bench Work
• • Using molecular genetic techniques to perform laboratory procedures within the Pharmacogenomics MassArray pipeline;
  • Using manual laboratory techniques as well as high throughput tools (eg. automated liquid handling instrumentation) to complete laboratory assays.
• Laboratory Instrumentation
• • Working with Agena MassArray and 3730XL Capillary Electrophoresis instrumentation to complete laboratory assays.
• Laboratory Administrative Functions
• • Maintaining records, performing sample tracking, and creating assay plate orders.
• General Laboratory Maintenance Functions
• • Assisting with reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, assay development, and troubleshooting;
  • Following all laboratory procedures and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documenting appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required.

Position Requirements

• 4 year Bachelor degree or higher in a Biological Science or related field.
• Previous experience in a molecular biology or clinical laboratory environment with demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques.
• Demonstrated understanding of general molecular biology principles and concepts.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision.
• Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel and/or Google Sheets, including the ability to navigate complex spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with navigating LIMS tracking systems.
• This is an active position and requires being on your feet, moving between lab benches and instruments for most of the day.
• MB (ASCP) Certification is preferred.
