Contract: International Space Station

Part-Time, 20-hour week


The International Space Station (ISS) contract will cover work related to sustaining engineering tasks for hardware and software on the U.S segment of the ISS and for common hardware and software available to international partners. The contract includes anomaly resolution, specialty engineering and oversight of ongoing maintenance.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Assist with network monitoring, performance analysis, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN environments
  • Support configuration and testing of routers and switches (Cisco, Juniper, or similar)
  • Participate in firewall rule reviews and basic security assessments
  • Help document network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures
  • Contribute to small automation tasks using Python scripting or similar languages
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on network upgrades, patching, and hardware installations
  • Research emerging technologies in cloud networking, automation, and security

 

Course of study desired: Computer Engineering or Computer Science with Network Engineering Interest

 

Specific skills and expertise desired (programming languages, technical knowledge): 

Knowledge of JavaScript, Python, C+, C++, a plus.
 

Other general experience, skills desired: The candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills, strong multi-tasking/work prioritization skills, and be able to work in a team environment.
