Job Summary:

The Senior Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of category events. This position is expected to develop a deep understanding of our business, processes, and procedures as well as develop broad supplier, product, and industry knowledge to our organization.Ā  The Senior Manager’s primary role is to develop and recommend data-driven strategies to improve business performance.Ā  The Senior Manager will work closely with Merchandising leadership to analyze market trends/dynamics, supplier/brand economics, customer loyalty, and related optimization opportunities across various levers, such as assortment, placement, pricing and promotion.Ā  The Senior Manager will be required to capture and manipulate data to define the current business profile; analyze, design, and recommend future business strategy; synthesize and communicate results to leadership.Ā  The Senior Manager will lead, develop and manage a high-performing team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops annual plans and budgets for category strategy and profit improvement, working with the Merchandising leadership team

  • Develops and drives a portfolio of strategy and profit improvement initiatives

  • Leads the team to identify sales, cost, and profit opportunities across items and suppliers through rigorous analysis and research

  • Leverages data tools to determine competitive benchmarks (brands, items), market insights, customer insights (e.g., surveys, Customer analytics), supplier insights (cost structures, motivations) and item/brand/supplier-level analysis (profitability, brand loyalty, conversion potential)

  • Coordinates the development of analytical materials to be shared internally during category reviews and assortment discussions with Merchandising team

  • Oversees the development of ā€œAskā€ materials to be shared with suppliers during negotiations

  • Provides direct supplier negotiations support, partnering with Sourcing

  • Enhances and enforces documentation, archiving, and audit processes for agreements with suppliers

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Education Preferred:

  • Business or equivalent

Experience Required:

  • 5 years

Experience Preferred:

  • Distribution, Consulting, Retail/CPG, Banking/Private Equity

Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Experienced quantitative problem solver who can manage complex issues and interpret large data sets comfortably

  • Analytical thinker who can draw sound business conclusions from multiple sources of information
