Audubon is currently seeking an Ironworker I to join our team in our Off Site Office. The Ironworker I performs skilled fabrication, erection, and installation of structural steel, reinforced iron for industrial facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pulls or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other structures.
- Sets up and breaks down hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members.
- Fastens steel members to cable of hoist and signals to operator lifting equipment.
- Safe use of power tools such as saws, drills, planes, sanders, routers and grinders.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Identifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members.
- Aligns bolt members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted.
- Cut steel members to make alterations.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

- Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
- Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Related trade school education is preferred.
- Five years' experience in the construction industry.
- Five years' experience as an Ironworker.
- Must be able to obtain site and Safety training certifications required for the project.
- Steel construction and quality assurance practices and procedures.
- Construction safety practices.
- Proven experience as reading steel plans.
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and HSE guidelines.
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and report effectively.
- Aptitude in math and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently when required.
- Ability to motivate, lead, teach and train on proper work and safety procedures.
- Ability to think analytically, apply sound judgment, and solve problems.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. Individuals must have a valid driver's license and driving record that meets Company requirements.
