Job DetailsJob Location: HUGO, CO 80821Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 HourlyJob Shift: AnyPURPOSE: The CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) is responsible for providing assigned residents with routine daily nursing cares in accordance with established facility nursing care procedures as trained and directed by the Director of Nursing (DON), Registered Nurse (RN), Unit Manager and/or another licensed nurse. DIMENSIONS: To provide compassionate care to our patients who are faced with an advanced or end-of-life illness. ENVIRONMENT: Lincoln Health is a 15-bed Critical Access Hospital co-located with a 22-bed Long Term Care Unit. The facility employs 150-200 employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in development and updating of resident care plans. Provides assistance with activities of daily living for assigned residents for their shift based upon the resident's individualized care plan. Performs activities of daily living include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting. Provides assistance to residents with dining as needed. Encourages resident participation and engagement in community activities. Provides assistance to residents through daily light housekeeping services such as making beds, taking out trash, tidying up a resident's room and water/snack passes. Becomes acquainted with each resident as an individual, learning their personal history and likes/dislikes. Builds a meaningful relationship with residents and their families. Conducts routine wellness checks on residents throughout each shift. Communicates any changes in resident's condition to the nurse. Completes all assigned training, both initial and ongoing, within the designated time. Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors, and co-workers. Works cooperatively with co-workers as a team to ensure resident needs are met. EXPOSURE RISK: Working with patients in a medical capacity puts nursing assistants at risk of exposure to blood, urine, saliva, and other body fluids. This increases the risk of contracting hepatitis B, hepatitis C, human immunodeficiency virus and other diseases. Other exposures include sharp injuries, chemical, and drug exposure, back injuries, and latex allergies. SUPERVISORY RESPONISIBILITIES: NONE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to complete a POET, background check, and drug screen. Must receive two Tuberculin Tests (chest x-ray, if needed) within three days of hire. Must receive a yearly flu vaccination between the months of November 1- April 1. Must have the ability to read / write English and document observations. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and less than one-year related experience or training. Must be a Certified Nurse Assistant licensed with the State of Colorado or seeking enrollment in a CNA course. Current certification through American Heart Association in Basic Life Safety. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Effective verbal and written communication skills in computer, charting, and telephone.      REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to speak slowly and clearly to be understood by people with hearing loss. Ability to work as part of a team, to adapt to various personality types, willingness to help co-workers, and adaptability. Time management skills to arrive at work on time and accomplish assigned tasks during a shift. Patience, compassion, and empathy with others and be respectful; interacts in a polite manner, responsive. Policies regarding gait belt usage, name badge, Health Stream, weather, and all others must always be followed.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
