SUMMARY: The Process Operator is responsible for operations of equipment in their assigned area of the facility. Provides support to other Operators and Lab Staff to ensure operational standards are met.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion.

  • Operates various process controls and machinery; adjust as required to maintain the process operations within required performance limits.
  • Ensure that all equipment functions properly; make adjustments where necessary to ensure the product meets established standards.
  • Follow SOPs to ensure consistency, safety and quality standards are being met to achieve corporate and plant goals and objectives
  • Solves and troubleshoots operating problems and notifies supervisor of any problems. Ensure that operating parameters are maintained within required limits.
  • Monitors equipment and machines and coordinates minor repairs and preventative maintenance when required.
  • Receive results from the Quality Assurance Lab and Field Operators to make necessary corrective adjustments to plant operating parameters.
  • Support and participate in unit start-ups and shutdowns.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external contractors.
  • Assist and contribute to turnaround maintenance events.
  • Collect product samples, diagnose operational issues, prepare work orders, and oversee site preparations and repairs
  • Follows all safety and health requirements in the plant. Provides feedback on any areas of deficiency. Reports on all safety and environmental concerns.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Refinery experience preferred
  • Ability to learn process operating parameters and control system operation to ensure safety and environmental protection standards are maintained while maximizing plant production yields.
  • Ability to follow detailed operating procedures to maintain operating parameters within established limits and respond to off-spoken conditions in a controlled and systematic manner.
  • Ability to assess and utilize detailed and sometimes complex data to develop a response and corrective actions to off normal operating conditions.
  • Ability to maintain focus/respond to alarms/off normal conditions through use of computer based digital control system.
  • Ability to interface with computer-based control systems; ability to apply analytical and troubleshooting skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to move from place to place to all areas of production. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms. Must be able to wear all safety and production related equipment.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment is based in assigned units of a manufacturing plant, with frequent mobility through all areas of production. This position will be exposed to all outside climate conditions.  The noise level varies widely within different areas of production.

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Thursday to Wednesday, 12-hour shifts. Day shift: 6 AM to 6 PM. Night shift: 6 PM to 6 AM. Designated on-call shifts, are changes in schedule will be required as operational need dictates.
