The Design Automation Engineer II is responsible for supporting the design, development, programming, testing, and implementation of automated manufacturing equipment and control systems. This role contributes to PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, robotics, machine vision integration, and mechanical design to improve manufacturing processes and equipment performance. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to support automation projects while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Design, develop, and implement small-scale automated equipment and manufacturing systems.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC applications and control systems.
- Assist in the development and support of SCADA and HMI applications.
- Support robotic automation projects, including system integration and troubleshooting.
- Integrate and troubleshoot machine vision systems.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and electrical wiring schematics.
- Perform application testing in Windows and Linux desktop environments.
- Support equipment commissioning, startup, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve automation processes.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering drawings, and project records.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or manufacturing automation.
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
- Experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation testing.
- Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- 2+ years of direct application testing experience in Windows or Linux desktop environments.
- PLC programming and troubleshooting.
