JOB SUMMARY: CDI Energy Products is seeking a Strategic Commercial Manager to lead the commercial strategy, market development, and revenue growth of its Compression Products business, encompassing reciprocating and centrifugal compressor product lines. Reporting to the Commercial Director of Energy Products, this role owns the Compression Products revenue targets and is primarily responsible for driving OEM direct sales through senior account management, building and sustaining C-suite and engineering-level relationships with major compressor OEMs, and coordinating go-to-market execution across CDI’s global manufacturing and channel network. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in compression equipment, reciprocating and centrifugal sealing products, a strong commercial instinct, and a proven track record of managing strategic OEM accounts and scaling product lines from early traction to significant revenue. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires equal comfort in the field, in front of customers, and in the boardroom. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Commercial Strategy & Revenue Growth •    Execute the comprehensive commercial strategy for CDI’s Compression Products lines (reciprocating and centrifugal compressors), with clear revenue targets, margin goals, and market share objectives. •    Own the Compression Products revenue targets; build annual business plans, forecasts, and pricing strategies that align with CDI’s corporate growth objectives and market expectations. •    Identify addressable market segments, competitive positioning, and white-space opportunities across North America and globally for CDI’s compression product portfolio. •    Track market trends, competitive activity, and voice-of-customer insights to continuously refine the go-to-market approach. OEM Direct Sales & Senior Account Management •    Lead CDI’s direct sales efforts to major reciprocating and centrifugal compressor OEMs, serving as the primary commercial point of contact and senior relationship owner. •    Build and maintain executive- and management-level relationships with key OEM decision-makers, engineering teams, procurement organizations, and aftermarket leadership. •    Develop and execute strategic account plans for priority OEM accounts, identifying expansion opportunities, renewal strategies, and cross-sell/upsell potential across CDI’s compression portfolio. •    Manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through proposal development, technical alignment, negotiation, and contract execution. •    Partner with CDI’s engineering and R&D teams to align product development roadmaps with OEM application-specific requirements and qualification processes. Distributor & Channel Network Development •    Identify, recruit, onboard, and develop regional distributors and channel partners across key markets to expand CDI’s compression product reach and service coverage. •    Provide ongoing channel enablement including training, marketing collateral, technical support, and joint sales engagement. •    Monitor channel partner performance against KPIs; coach underperformers and recognize top partners. Technical Resource & Customer Support Coordination •    Manage and deploy CDI’s technical resources (field engineers, applications specialists) to support compression OEM customers with product selection, integration guidance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. •    Serve as the escalation point for critical customer issues, ensuring timely resolution and high customer satisfaction. •    Translate field and OEM feedback into actionable product improvement recommendations for engineering and manufacturing teams. Market Strategy Execution •    Execute CDI’s global Compression Products strategy by coordinating with CDI’s manufacturing facilities and international channel partners. •    Collaborate with global commercial teams to ensure consistent product positioning, pricing discipline, and brand standards across all markets. •    Support regional commercial teams with market intelligence, competitive analysis, and strategic planning for international territories. Team Leadership •    Directly manage a team of commercial and/or technical professionals; mentor, develop, and hold the team accountable to performance standards. •    Foster a culture of customer-centricity, urgency, and collaboration within the Compression Products commercial organization. REQUIREMENTS: •    Minimum 10 years of progressive commercial experience in compression equipment, including reciprocating and/or centrifugal compressors, or closely related rotating equipment in oil & gas, industrial, or power generation markets. •    Deep technical understanding of reciprocating and centrifugal compressor design, components, wear parts, sealing systems, and related applications. •    Demonstrated success managing strategic OEM accounts with complex, long-cycle technical sales processes. •    Proven ability to build and grow product lines, channels, or business units from early stage to meaningful revenue. •    Experience identifying, onboarding, and managing distributor or channel partner networks. •    Strong leadership skills with experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams. •    Willingness and ability to travel 50%+ domestically, with periodic international travel. •    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field. •    Strategic Thinking – Ability to see the big picture while executing tactically in the field. •    Commercial Acumen – Instinct for deal structure, pricing, competitive positioning, and market timing. •    Customer Orientation – Relentless focus on solving customer problems and delivering value. •    Cross-Cultural Communication – Effective collaboration across geographies, cultures, and functions. •    Results Driven – Track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and growth targets. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •    MBA or advanced degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent field experience. •    Existing executive-level relationships with major reciprocating or centrifugal compressor OEMs. •    Experience working with international manufacturing operations or global distribution networks. •    Familiarity with key international compression markets including the Middle East, North America, Southeast Asia, Latin America, or other major oil & gas and industrial regions. •    Experience with CRM tools (Oracle CRM, Salesforce, or equivalent) and data-driven sales management practices.
