Role Overview

As a Tier 1 Help Desk Intern, you will serve as the first point of contact for staff seeking technical

assistance. This is an excellent opportunity to build a foundation in IT support, troubleshooting,

and professional communication while contributing to the operational efficiency of a healthcare

provider. You will gain exposure to real-world hardware, software, and networking challenges in

a professional setting.

Key Responsibilities

ā— User Support: Act as the initial point of contact for incoming support requests via

phone, email, or in-person.

ā— Hardware Troubleshooting: Assist with the setup, configuration, and basic

troubleshooting of office workstations, monitors, and peripherals.

ā— Printer & Peripheral Support: Troubleshoot common printer issues, including

connectivity, paper jams, and driver installations.

ā— Network & Connectivity: Provide initial diagnostics for minor networking issues,

including Wi-Fi connectivity problems and local area network (LAN) troubleshooting.

ā— Software Support: Help staff with password resets, basic Microsoft Office/O365

questions, and navigating internal software applications.

ā— Documentation: Maintain accurate records of support tickets, resolution steps, and

update internal knowledge base documentation as needed.

Qualifications

ā— Academic Background: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Computer

Science, Information Technology, or other related degree program.

ā— Technical Familiarity: Solid understanding of Windows operating systems.

ā—‹ Basic familiarity with office hardware (printers, scanners, docking stations).

ā—‹ Fundamental understanding of networking concepts (IP addresses, DHCP, Wi-Fi

troubleshooting).


ā— Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts

to non-technical staff in a clear, patient manner.

ā— Professionalism: High level of integrity and comfort working in a medical environment

where HIPAA compliance and patient data privacy are paramount.
