Provides support for people and/or groups of people with disabilities both in residential and day settings by performing and leading by example in carrying out Direct Support job responsibilities. Serves a mentor, trainer and coach to Direct Support Employees. Responsible for carrying out mentorship responsibilities for new Direct Support Employees to ensure thorough training and abilities. Assists with ensuring staff coverage of all three shifts as scheduled by the Residential Team Leader or as necessary due to scheduled staff not being able to work. At certain residences, the employee may be required to reside (sleep over) if he/she works a special schedule and/or work week. Assists the person(s) receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports. Implements services and supports to address the person鈥檚 goals and desired outcomes as identified through each person鈥檚 Person Centered Plan. Relies on knowledge, experience, and judgment to complete tasks with supervision and direction from the Residential Team Leader.

Hours: 4 PM to 12 AM including rotating days off with some week-ends

Pay: $20 an hour

This position is at an Advanced Behavior Home - previous IDD experience with behaviors is required.


Responsibilities Include:

路 Pair new employees with them to shadow (the new employee would shadow on 2nd shift during the DSM's shift)

o Responsible to ensure that the new staff shadowing is conducted by the DSM for their shift and assist with the other shifts as well as they should ensure that any staff in the home is trained on Person specific training

路 Monitor active treatment, mealtime (possibly complete one of the assessments for the month)

路 Make the grocery/supply lists

路 Survey prep/QA prep

路 Conduct fire drills

路 Training the fill in staff

路 Monitor the restrictions in place and ensuring staff are following the restrictions (alarms, locked sharps, chemicals, etc. )

路 Completing Personal Property Inventories for Persons supported (need to differentiate what is theirs and what is the facility's in their rooms)

路 Checking adaptive equipment for hygiene and mealtime is present and in good working order, etc.

路 Ensure that all person supported plans are being followed- mealtime, OT, PT, oral hygiene, etc.

The ideal candidates for this mid-level position are patient, compassionate, nurturing and have a calming demeanor in times of stress.

Additional requirements for this mid-level role include:

  • Must have a High school diploma or (GED).
  • Prefer experience working with IDD individuals.
  • Least one year of experience working with the population served. 聽
  • Must have a valid driver鈥檚 license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.聽
  • Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging as required.聽
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certification , Med Tech and NCI certifications and other core competency training that may be specified聽 and/or required by future company regulations or service definitions of service being provided
  • Depending on service being provided must be clinically supervised by a qualified professional according to supervision requirements as specified by licensure or certification requirements of appropriate discipline or service being provided.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level. Practicing CPR skills will require you to work on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting.聽
  • Must meet conditions of employment by agreeing to criminal record check, pre-employment drug screening, healthcare registry check, and motor vehicle registry check.

  • Complete criminal background
  • Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
