Job Title: Head Cook – Springvale Independent Living
Primary Function and Relationship to Total Organization:
Responsible for creating menus, ordering, organizing kitchen, cleaning kitchen, and making home cooked meals for the residents of Springvale Independent Living. Â Provides an atmosphere in which residents are fulfilled and thriving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Opening up the kitchen and dining room each morning
- Getting breakfast items out for residents
- Checking all temps (dishwasher/refrigerators, freezers)
- Noon meal preparation for approximately 50 residents
- Assist in serving the noon meal
- Ordering and maintaining food and supplies
- Menu planning
- Assist with cleaning responsibilities
- Exceptional people skills
- Demonstrates cheerful attitude toward residents, family members, and visitors
- Ability to work well with other staff members
- Flexibility in work schedule and duties
- Functions within a budget
- Perform other duties as required by the position or as assigned

Minimum educational requirements:
- High School diploma required
- ServSafe certification preferred or must be willing to obtain.Â
- Cooking & Senior experience preferred
- Successful completion of BCLS within 3 months of hire.
 Work environment:
- May work outside if grilling
- Maintains a clean, organized, sterile kitchen
- Maintains a courteous and professional manner in dealing with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers
- Shows a positive attitude toward work schedules, department and hospital changes, assignments and other personnel
- Presents professional appearance in dress and grooming, complies with department dress requirements and wears hospital identification badge
- Conforms to hospital policy regarding use of sick time, personal days, notification of absence or tardiness
