Job Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the facility, ensuring a safe and organized work environment. This role includes general cleaning duties, waste disposal, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- Sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas, replenishing supplies as needed.
- Remove trash and recyclable materials, ensuring proper disposal in compliance with company and state environmental regulations.
- Clean and maintain floors using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or reporting facility issues.
- Monitor cleaning supply inventory and notify management when reordering is necessary.
- Adhere to safety guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and company regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
- Support emergency clean-up activities in case of spills or other incidents.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain overall plant cleanliness.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Prior janitorial or industrial cleaning experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and handling of industrial cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including bending, reaching, and prolonged standing.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety regulations (OSHA/Cal-OSHA).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
