Ferraro Foods is seeking a Business Development Manager to help drive growth across our foodservice customer base and expand market share. This role is designed for a foodservice distribution sales professional who thrives in a customer-focused environment and enjoys winning new business in a competitive market. The Business Development Manager partners closely with customers and internal teams to deliver profitable, long-term results.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, target, and secure new foodservice customers while converting competitive distributor accounts
Manage and grow customer profitability through high-level engagement with designated accounts
Drive sales growth, gross profit, market penetration, account profitability, and customer satisfaction
Build and sustain long-term customer relationships through a consultative sales approach
Present foodservice products, programs, and promotional initiatives aligned to customer needs
Communicate customer feedback, opportunities, and market insights to sales leadership and senior management
Ensure customer needs are met through strong coordination with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service teams
Educate and support Sales Representatives, Marketing Associates, and Customer Service teams on customer needs and value-added solutions
Support sales team development through coaching, field observation, and performance feedback
Work alongside Sales Representatives in the field to support prospecting, onboarding, and account development
Coordinate and participate in monthly sales meetings in partnership with the Sales Department
Partner with Marketing on customer programs, promotions, plant visits, and brand initiatives
Utilize internet-based sales programs, master distribution agreements, sales reporting, and proprietary systems
Plan, organize, and support annual company trade shows and required sales functions
Attend required meetings, training sessions, and company sales events
Required Qualifications
Experience selling for a foodservice distributor (broadline or specialty distribution)
Demonstrated success acquiring new customers and converting competitive distributor accounts
Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications
Ability to travel frequently within the assigned territory
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Five or more years of experience in foodservice distribution sales or business development
Strong understanding of distributor pricing models, customer segmentation, and service expectations
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
