Overview

The 9-month Temporary Assistant Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining grounds and upkeep of buildings at Camp. Works directly with the maintenance supervisor to provide maintenance to all facets of Camp Loyaltown's buildings, grounds, and equipment and ensure all safety procedures are in place and being adhered to by staff. Must be able to perform with limited supervision, except responsibilities, initiate problem solving and/or decision-making and complete assignments to finish without the need for supervisory guidance. This position will be stationed at Camp Loyaltown for the 9-month period. This position requires a work schedule of 6 days a week in summer with one day off.

Responsibilities

  • Practices and promotes Citizen’s mission statement in every interaction: Through family and community engagement, Citizens supports people to live the life they choose.
  • Adheres to Federal and New York State regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook, and agency program training requirements.
  • Reports to the Justice Center, as a mandated reporter, if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect. Additionally, must adhere to all Agency incident policy and procedures.
  • Independently maintains campgrounds by landscaping, excavating, pruning flora, clearing walkways and roads, etc., to promote favorable appearance of the grounds and to ensure safe travel within the camp.
  • Independently clean buildings and grounds as requested or as needed by sweeping, mopping, dispensing miscellaneous trash, etc., to promote favorable appearance of camp during the summer months.
  • Perform errands (e.g. deliver and collect materials, takes agency vehicles for inspection, etc.)
  • Move furniture (e.g. office equipment, bed dressers) by lifting and using transportation equipment to transfer without damage to people of the facilities.
  • Purchases supplies using paramount for the maintenance department, housekeeping, laundry, and construction.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Review and submit maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry staff timesheets.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance and Laundry/Housekeeping staff throughout the summer to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Qualifications

    High School Diploma or equivalent required. Valid NYS Driver’s License and maintain a qualified driver status throughout employment. Ability to communicate and understand written and oral directives and be a team player with a positive attitude. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and prior experience with carpentry, plumbing and electrical work preferred. Knowledgeable of heavy equipment operation with regard to local, state, and federal buildings and safety codes and laws. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, accept responsibilities, initiate problem solving and/or decision-making and complete all assignments.
