Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.

This is the first level of the Nuclear Materials Specialist classification hierarchy. This is an entry level position used for new employees with little experience. Employees at this level will require very close supervision and training for basic warehouse tasks and functions.

There is no automatic progression between hierarchies.

Responsibilities

  • Receipt, storage and issue activities including locating materials, loading and unloading trucks, material put away and/or picking, preparing materials for shipment.

  • Warehouse maintenance and overall housekeeping and material condition activities.

  • Training as outlined in Nuclear Warehousing Position Specific Guides (PSG's), Radiation Protection Training for nuclear badged employees (annual) and various supply chain systems related processes.

Required/Basic Qualifications (Nuclear Materials Specialist I)

  • High School/GED degree

  • Valid driver's license

Required/Basic Qualifications (Nuclear Materials Specialist II)

  • High School/GED degree

  • 1+ year of related work experience

  • Valid driver's license

Required/Basic Qualifications (Nuclear Materials Specialist III)

  • High School/GED degree

  • 3+ years of related work experience

  • Valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management

  • In addition to desired degree, 3 years related work experience

  • Forklift and/or DOT Hazardous Materials Training

  • Good oral communication skills

  • Ability to learn how to execute computer supply chain systems transactions

  • Excellent computer skills including Windows-based applications

  • Excel Spreadsheet experience

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to prioritize both long-term and short-term tasks with varying levels of urgency balanced with normal duties

  • Working knowledge of the overall customer operations fundamentals and principals of a nuclear plant, equipment and processes

  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain System applications (NAS)

Working Conditions

  • Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.

  • ​Warehouse and outside environments including all weather conditions and possibly extreme temperatures

  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, pulling, climbing ladders

  • Participate on rotating week or weekend on-call schedule and/or occasional overtime and emergency call-out for unscheduled outages; outages may require 3rd shift coverage and weekend coverage

  • Mon - Thurs 6am - 4:30pm; this will require altered scheduling and up to 72 hours/week

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to arrive at required location promptly once called for emergency call-out when scheduled for on-call duty during nights, weekends, holidays, etc.

Specific Requirements

  • Maintain valid driver's license, fork truck certification and all assigned training (safety, environmental, ethics, etc.)

  • Must be able to obtain unescorted nuclear access and successfully complete job specific training as outlined in Nuclear Supply Chain Directives, Forklift, safety and other facility specific training.
