POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Mobile Food Distribution Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of mobile food pantries, which provide direct food distributions in communities throughout the Facing Hunger Foodbank’s service area. 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Coordinates and schedules mobile food pantry distributions in collaboration with the Foodbank’s Agency Relations Team to ensure distributions to areas of greatest need and in a manner that is safe and cooperative with our member agency volunteers.
  2. Works collaboratively with the Agency Relations Team, Warehouse personnel, Programming Team Members, and other staff and partner agency volunteers and personnel to identify opportunities for food sourcing.
  3. Maintains appropriate follow-up and documentation for food sourcing and inventory activities.
  4. Completes follow-up correspondence on a consistent basis with mobile pantry site partners. 
  5. Assists with inventory management reporting and activities to ensure food is timely distributed.
  6. Maintains a professional, courteous and helpful manner at all times; and
  7. Performs other related duties, as requested or assigned.

Director of Programs 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Must embrace the Mission of the Foodbank;
  • Must have the ability to interact professionally and effectively with the CEO, the COO, the Director of Programming, the Warehouse Director, the Director of Network and Member Relations, other Foodbank staff, community leaders, volunteers, Foodbank agency members, grocery retailers, and other individuals who come from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be a “self-starter;”
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational, clerical, and communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to anticipate and project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must possess excellent relationship-building and customer service skills, with a strong external customer focus; and
  • Must have the ability to maintain a level of professionalism, promoting the Facing Hunger Foodbank’s community spirit and mission.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

  • Two years ’experience in a non-profit safety net services.

 

  • Strong coordinating and scheduling skills. 

 

  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

 

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 45 pounds occasionally and lift or move up to 75 pounds with mechanical assistance;

 

  • Must have a Fork Lift and Pallet Jack Certification or ability to become certified

 

  • Must- have the ability to learn Foodbank’s inventory program and inventory management within 3 months of starting in position

 

  • Must pass Food Handler Safety Certification within 3 months of starting in position

 

  • Must travel to mobile pantry sites as well as member agencies.

 

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 

 

Office equipment: telephone, calculator, computer, copy machine, scanner, and fax machine. 

 

Warehouse equipment: pallet jack, forklift, scales, ladders, step stools, walk-in coolers and freezers, inventory barcode scanners, infrared thermometer, and cleaning supplies, along with required personal protective equipment. [Training prior to use will be provided for warehouse equipment. Safety training and indicated safety equipment may be required and provided when the employee is performing job duties.]

The employee, from time to time, may lift and/or move objects weighing up to 45 pounds or move up to 75 pounds with mechanical assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is indoor, generally, in an office setting, which may include shared space and stairs. Normally, within the office setting, there are no extremes in temperature, and the noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet. Lighting includes artificial and natural light. The employee in this position may be required to enter and assist in other areas of the physical plant, where noise may be loud, temperatures reach extremes, and dust/fumes from propane-fueled equipment may be present. Travel outside the office/physical plant is required for calling on mobile pantry sites, member agencies or grocery partners, as well as attending conferences, trainings, or meetings, as the need arises.
