St. Mary's Medical Center is looking for a Full Time Security Officer for the Main Campus.  It is the responsibility of SMMC Security Officers while on duty to provide 24/7 coverage of safety and security to the patients/visitors/employees of St. Mary’s Medical Center. This coverage includes but is not limited to protecting patient, staff, and visitors. Report on building security and safety issues. The Security Officer is responsible for the parking lot safety, security, and protocol, investigations, criminal and non-criminal, and special event coverage to include media related events. Security officer will also be responsible for special events and VIP coverage, assist with uncooperative individuals who interfere with staff’s ability to provide patient care, and provide escorts for individuals on campus. Security Officers will provide motorist assistance to include battery jump starts and door unlocks. The security officer will be responsible for securing patient valuables and writing and submitting reports.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Junior College/Technical School preferred. On the Job Training Requirements.

 

Probationary/ Newly hired employees must complete the following training in the first six months of employment. Failure to complete the required training will result in termination of employment unless approved by the Director of Security for reasons out of the employee’s control.

  1. 40-hour Basic Orientation
  2. IAHSS Basic certification- with Advanced and Supervisory levels
  3. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and Certification
  4. ASP Training and Certification
  5. Health Stream annual education
  6. Use of force continuum
  7. First Aide/CPR/AED
  8. Dealing with assaultive and/or difficult people
  9. Public Relations

 

Experience:

Minimum of 1 to 2 years of position related experience. 2 to 5 years preferred. Past experience in Security, Law Enforcement or Military. Basic computer skills (including typing/keyboarding/ using a mouse). Strong interpersonal skills required. Good writing skills must be able to read and comprehend. Good communication skills. Basic First Aid knowledge preferred.

 

Certifications/Skills:

Must possess a valid Operators’ License. Clean Motor vehicle record to meet hospital insurance carrier requirements.
