St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a full time Specimen Processing and Phlebotomy Laboratory Supervisor.  Under the supervision of the Manager, Laboratory Services or authorized designee, and pursuant to Federal Regulations, Clinical oversight by the Medical Director or appointed Pathologist.  Supervises, coordinates and performs phlebotomy and processing services for the Main laboratory and the Outpatient Center.  Performs and monitors quality control procedures.  Observes and enforces laboratory safety regulations.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Current WVDHHR State license and ASCP Registered (or equivalent). Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or equivalent educations as defined in 42CFR493.4189(b)(2)(ii) with at least two years of training and/or experience in high complexity testing Is highly preferred.

 

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years’ clinical experience within the department for which they are applying or a minimum of two (2) years’ clinical experience from another facility in the department for which they are applying. Multiple department supervision may be required. Prior supervisory experience with hospital or medical office experience is preferred.

 

Certifications/Skills:

Phlebotomy registration with ASPT or equivalent is required or must be completed within 6 months of hire date as a condition of employment. Administrative ability is essential as must have knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer applications. Must display an ability to work well with others including appropriate interpersonal relations in a professional setting and ability to plan, coordinate and communicate effectively Must have a highly developed sense of responsibility and awareness of importance of work.  Dedication to profession and acceptance of demands of the profession.  Ability to work with and coordinate implementation of administrative policies and procedures with the Manager and Medical Director of Laboratory Services.
